Award Benefits of the Julius Nyerere Scholarship
The Julius Nyerere Scholarship covers full tuition fees. Furthermore, it provides an annual stipend at the UKRI rate, approximately £19,237 for 2024/25. The recipient receives this stipend monthly into their UK bank account. However, please note that the scholarship lasts for one year only and cannot be combined with other funding sources.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Julius Nyerere Scholarship applicants must be Tanzanian citizens residing in Tanzania. They should have graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2022, 2023, or 2024, or expect to graduate in 2025. Additionally, applicants must apply for and receive acceptance into the MSc in Africa and International Development. Furthermore, they need to meet the academic requirement of a UK equivalent First Class or 2.1 Honours degree in a Humanities or Social Science field.

- Apply for the MSc Programme: Start by submitting your application for the full-time MSc in Africa and International Development at the University of Edinburgh, including the following documents:

- Complete the Scholarship Application: After applying for the MSc programme, submit your scholarship application through the online system. You will need to:
- Write a Personal Statement (up to 500 words) addressing:

- A significant issue in Tanzania and your approach to researching it.
- Tanzania’s strengths in global development.
