About the Business and Finance Expert Job
The Business and Finance Expert will work on the Accelerating Climate Technology Transition (ACTT) project. This initiative aims to promote clean energy transitions by addressing the financial barriers preventing smallholder farmers and solar irrigation solution providers from adopting sustainable technologies.
Your role will involve bridging gaps between end-users, technology providers, and investors, ensuring that investments in solar irrigation systems align with Uganda’s National Irrigation Policy and its ambitious target to irrigate 1.5 million hectares of land by 2040.
This consultancy is pivotal in advancing clean energy solutions and supporting smallholder farmers, with a focus on gender-disaggregated beneficiaries and policymakers.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business and Finance Expert, you will:
- Conduct market assessments and feasibility studies for solar irrigation systems in Uganda.
- Identify and address barriers to investment in solar irrigation pumps (SIPs).
- Facilitate financial matchmaking between technology providers and potential investors.
- Develop policy and financial support mechanisms to promote SIP adoption.
- Organize workshops, consultations, and capacity-building sessions with stakeholders.
Your work will directly enhance market access, improve investor readiness, and strengthen policymaking for climate technologies in the agriculture sector.
Qualifications and Special Skills
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional experience in climate technology finance, economic feasibility studies, and supporting businesses to access finance.
- Proven expertise in organizing workshops, conducting training sessions, and facilitating stakeholder engagements.
- Knowledge of Uganda’s clean energy and irrigation policies is an advantage.
- Language: Fluency in spoken and written English.
