Principal Duties of the Digital Engagement and Marketing

The Digital Engagement and Marketing Manager will play a crucial role in shaping Oceana Canada’s email and digital advocacy initiatives. This position involves strategic oversight and project management, ensuring that outreach to supporters is both timely and effective. The manager will work diligently to help the organization achieve its digital growth, engagement, and fundraising goals. Additionally, they will lead the planning and execution of communication strategies for a campaign aimed at tackling plastic pollution in oceans by reducing the use of single-use plastics.

Responsibilities

Digital Engagement

The Digital Engagement and Marketing Manager will manage Oceana Canada’s email and digital advocacy platform, Engaging Networks. In this role, you will lead account updates and optimize features. Additionally, you will implement new processes and maintain vendor relationships.

You will build and deploy emails and supporter actions. Moreover, you will develop customized marketing automations. Tracking and reporting on engagement metrics will be essential for gauging success. You will manage engagement profiles to ensure the subscriber list remains healthy. Conducting A/B testing will help increase conversion rates, including donations.

Knowledge transfer is important, so you will design briefing and how-to documents. You will create digital content, such as blogs and social media posts, to drive engagement and grow channels.

Grassroots Advocacy and Digital Fundraising

In this position, you will plan and execute digital fundraising campaigns. You will also develop grassroots donor communications to strengthen relationships. Furthermore, you will lead strategies for advocacy campaigns to engage and expand Oceana Canada’s digital community.

Campaigns

You will lead communications for the plastics campaign. This includes developing and implementing communications plans. Additionally, you will manage budgets in coordination with the campaign lead to achieve specific goals. You will also support other campaigns as needed, collaborating with communication leads on content creation for email, web, and social media.

Qualifications

The Digital Engagement and Marketing Candidates should have a degree in digital marketing, communications, or a related field. Alternatively, comparable work experience is acceptable. You should possess three to five years of digital marketing experience. High proficiency in email marketing platforms, such as Engaging Networks, is required.

You should also have at least one year of project management experience. A strong understanding of digital fundraising and donor stewardship is essential. Excellent analytical skills and experience in analysis and reporting are necessary. Expertise in content creation and design is expected.

Additionally, the Digital Engagement and Marketing must be a creative problem-solver with strong organizational skills. Extensive experience collaborating with cross-functional teams is important. You should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. An interest in advocacy and change-making is essential. Proficiency in French is a plus, as is a working knowledge of HTML.
