In the United States, the Institute of International Education (IIE) and AMIDEAST manage the Fulbright Foreign Student Program under the authority of the U.S. Department of State.
IIE manages the Fulbright Program for several regions. These include Africa, Eurasia, Europe, East Asia and the Pacific, South and Central Asia, parts of the Middle East, and the Western Hemisphere. IIE has been the longest-running administrative agency for this program, overseeing it since 1946. Meanwhile, AMIDEAST is responsible for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program in most of the Middle East and North Africa.
The Fulbright Scholarships for 2025/26 for Foreign Student Program offers two placement models: IIE-Placement and Self-Placement.
IIE-Placement
- In the IIE-Placement model, the Placement service actively works to secure both degree and non-degree opportunities for Fulbright candidates.

- They bear the responsibility of submitting all required materials and test scores according to each university’s deadlines, including any applicable fees or deposits.
- In this scenario, IIE does not engage in the application process for self-placed candidates. Instead, candidates independently secure their own admission and any potential university funding or tuition awards.
Note: Candidates should be aware that they cannot apply for programs with clinical requirements, such as dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, or nursing. However, fields like public health and nursing administration are permissible for the Fulbright Scholarships for 2025/26
