The Young Trilateral Leaders’ Summit is Looking for Emerging Leaders Who Are:

  • Aged 18-35
  • Citizens of the U.S., Republic of Korea, or Japan
  • Committed to developing further as leaders
  • Passionate about strengthening U.S.-Republic of Korea-Japan relations
  • Ready to tackle regional challenges with like-minded youth

Join the Young Trilateral Leaders’ Summit /U.S.-ROK-Japan Young Trilateral Leaders (YTL)) Summit in Osaka, Japan, scheduled for the summer of 2025. This summit provides a unique opportunity for emerging leaders from the United States, Republic of Korea, Japan, and the broader Indo-Pacific region. Together, they can collaborate and develop creative solutions to pressing global challenges. Importantly, participants will have their travel expenses fully covered, including flights, accommodations, meals, and local transport within Japan. Thus, they can focus entirely on the experience without financial concerns.

The Young Trilateral Leaders’ Summit Objectives

The summit aims to deepen trilateral connections and foster leadership skills among young leaders. Key objectives include:

  • Strengthening Relations: Enhance ties among the U.S., Republic of Korea, and Japan.
  • Fostering Leadership: Cultivate leadership skills and innovative thinking among participants.
  • Addressing Challenges: Equip 50 youth leaders, aged 18-35, to tackle significant regional and global issues.

Preparation Activities for the Young Trilateral Leaders’ Summit

To prepare for the summit, participants will engage in virtual workshops that focus on:

  • Team Dynamics: Building effective teams for collaboration.
  • Leadership Growth: Developing essential leadership skills.
  • Trilateral Relations: Understanding the intricacies of trilateral relationships.

These sessions will lay the groundwork for the in-person summit at the 2025 World Expo site in Osaka. As a result, participants will engage in collaboration, share insights, and develop actionable strategies for critical global challenges.

Ongoing Engagement

As part of the Young Trilateral Leaders (YTL) network, participants will maintain their engagement after the summit through:

  • Virtual Meetings: Invitations to periodic discussions.
  • Mentorship Opportunities: Access to experienced mentors.
  • Alumni Activities: Continuous development and dialogue among future leaders.

If one is committed to enhancing trilateral relations among the U.S., Republic of Korea, and Japan, eager to collaborate with fellow youth leaders, and ready to tackle urgent global challenges, then this summit is the perfect opportunity for them. Furthermore, all travel-related costs—including flights, accommodations, meals, and local transportation in Japan—will be covered. As a result, participants can focus fully on their engagement without financial concerns.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age: 18-35 years
  • Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of the U.S., Republic of Korea, or Japan, with preference given to those residing in their home countries.
  • Southeast Asian or Pacific Island Applicants: Must be alumni of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) or Young Pacific Leaders (YPL), nominated by their U.S. Embassy.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrate excellence in local or regional youth leadership roles.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).

Application Details

  • First and foremost, the program is open to individuals from various academic backgrounds; current student status is not required.
  • Additionally, it strongly encourages applications from underrepresented regions and constituencies.
  • Moreover, virtual engagement sessions will take place on weekends; selected participants must be available for these sessions as well as the in-person summit in Osaka during summer 2025.
  • Finally, following the summit, participants will engage in ongoing alumni activities and virtual sessions to maintain connections and foster continued growth.
