About the Regional Coordinator Science Policy Job in Nairobi (Deadline: Jan 13, 2025)

As the Regional Coordinator Science Policy, you will:

  • Lead Programme Coordination: Drive UNEP’s science-policy agenda by managing projects and ensuring alignment with regional and global priorities.
  • Engage with United Nations Country Teams: Provide technical support to UNEP Country Focal Points, ensuring efficient collaboration with UN systems.

  • Foster Partnerships: Collaborate with governments, civil society, and private sectors to implement UNEP’s environmental agenda, particularly in climate action, nature preservation, and pollution control.
  • Support Capacity Building: Develop initiatives to enhance regional stakeholders’ understanding of environmental policies and data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver Strategic Communication: Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations to communicate UNEP’s impact and drive evidence-based policies.

  • Professional Expertise: Proven knowledge in environmental assessment, governance, and strategic data analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field.
    • Certification in data analytics or data science is an added advantage.
  • Work Experience:
    • At least 7 years of experience in environmental assessment and policy at national or regional levels.
    • Expertise in capacity building, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
    • International work experience is desirable.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
