Responsibilities of the Staff Assistant Job

As a Staff Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of the Office of the President of the General Assembly. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating administrative activities to support the office’s workflow and priorities.
  • Managing time-sensitive tasks, scheduling, and correspondence for the PGA.
  • Organizing meetings, events, and official receptions.
  • Assisting in onboarding new staff, including Cabinet Members.
  • Preparing and editing documents while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Handling travel arrangements, visa applications, and expense reports.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • At least five years of experience in office support or administration.
  • Two years of experience within the United Nations or similar international organizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Umoja is desirable.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is a plus.
